Review by Terry Ashley

From the publishers of EuroModelismo comes the second in a new bi-monthly series "Panzer Aces" devoted entirely to vehicle models and dioramas. The magazine will also be published in a separate North American Edition entitled "Armor Models". The magazine is entirely in colour with high quality images and production.

Issue No.2 contents:

Jagdpanzer IV by Joaquín García Gázquez (pages 2-15)
This article describes the building of the Dragon Jagdpanzer IV L/48 Early Production (kit #9021) with the addition of a Jordi Rubio barrel, ABER brass set #35037 and ModelKasten tracks for a very attractive model.

The article includes close-up shots of the model under construction showing the added details as well as photos of the finished model to highlight the painting and weathering with the photos accompanied with detailed text describing the building and painting process.

To compliment the model are four pages of close-up detailed shots of a museum Jagdpanzer IV to help in detailing your own model as well as two pages of colour side profile shots showing various cam schemes carried the vehicle for a very complete article on the Jagdpanzer IV L/48.

LVT-4 "Water Buffalo" by Javier Moreno Rodriguez (pages 18-33)
The Italeri LVT-4 (kit 379) gets the detailing treatment with the addition of scratch built and etched parts plus many accessory items to produce a nicely detailed model.

There are numerous shots of the model during construction showing the many details added as well as the painted and weathered model which carries a distinctive three colour olive drab/sand/red earth scheme of LTVs on Iwo Jima.

Detailed text supplements the many photos and there is again eight pages of close-up detail shots of a museum LVT-4 to provide many details for building the Italeri kit.

Steyr RSO mit PaK.40 by Abilio Pineiro Grajera (pages 34-44)
This article shows the Italeri Steyr RSO mit PaK.40 (kit 355) built with the addition of a Jordi Rubio barrel, ModelKasten tracks and ABER etched brass and staged on a stone bridge section with two Warriors figures for a distinctive small diorama.

The model is described with detailed text accompanied with numerous photos of the finished model and diorama to show off the well painted and weathered model to good effect.

Patton & Willie by Jesús Pérez Huélamo (pages 40-51)
Take one left over Sherman turret as a base for a scratch built figure of General Patten (or is that George C.Scott?) and his dog Willey for a very distinctive vignette.

The photos of the figure and dog during the scratch building process is complimented with detailed text describing in detail the steps that can also be used as guide in creating your own figures.

There is also a page dealing with the painting of the Sherman turret as well as numerous photos of the finished vignette.

Opel Blitz "A" by Juan Luis Macone (pages 54-56)
This short article details the building of the Italeri Opel Blitz (kit #216) with the Plus Models Ambulance conversion to produce a different looking Blitz.
There are several photos of the finished model as well as the text describing the building of the model.

Modeling Seminars - Airbrushes by Carlos de Diego Vaquerizo (pages 58-62)
This issues seminar is an in-depth look at using the airbrush and covers most aspects from mixing the paint, different airbrush techniques from freehand to masking as well as listing the most common mistakes made when first leaning to use the airbrush and should prove a valuable resource for most modellers.

This second issue continues the nice trend from the first with a good mixture of in-progress shots and photos of the finished models as well as some museum reference pics that should prove useful for most.

Highly recommended.

"Panzer Aces" is distrubuted in the UK by Historex Agents, while the North American Edition "Armor Models" is distributed by Squadron Mail Order as well as from good hobby shops.
