book Ground Power Magazine #70 3/2000
Published by Delta Publishing Co.Ltd. Japan

Another superb edition of this excellent magazine. This issue has three large sections.

The first is a 95 page photo essay on the Sd.Kfz.165 "HUMMEL"
There is 1/35th plans, numerous drawn diagrams of internal fittings and hull layout.
The photos are brilliant. A large selection of interior shots both 'in-action' and static showing crew positions during firing and reloading. Next is some sensational close-ups photos of every part of the vehicle taken from a museum Hummel. In the midst of this is a 16 page section with more superb close-ups of the 15cm sFH18 on its ground mount.
Lastly is a selection of in-action photos of the Hummel on all fronts

The second section is very timely. 16 pages of wartime photos of the Sd.Kfz.9 FAMO.
There aren't any close-up detail stuff, but all the pictures are excellent in showing the Famo inaction A couple of the pics have been seen before, like the two Famos towing a Tiger up a hill. But most are new to me. One showing a Famo towing a Hummel fits in nicely with the first part of the magazine.
There are a few shots of the Sd.Ah.116 trailer being used. There are also a number of photos of the Sd.Kfz.9/1 with the 6t crane. Some great diorama potential here with photos of a turret being lifted off a Panzer III, an engine change on a Panzer IV and a disabled Panzer IV being "dissected" .

The last section continues the German Army Uniforms pictorial history

While these magazines may be a bit on the expensive side, for mine they are worth every cent.
