Review by Terry Ashley
While small in size, measuring 8 3/8” x 6” (213mm x 153mm) and with just 48 pages, it is packed with super close up photos of all those details modellers really love.
The first couple of pages have a short technical description of the vehicle with the remaining pages devoted to the photos with captions and text in Polish and English with the photos split evenly between colour and B&W.
Almost every part of the vehicle is covered in great detail with multiple pages devoted to each sub section with the only area not shown being the engine.
The hull walk around has extreme close-up photos of virtually every part of the vehicle with overhead shots of the engine deck and the side storage bins shown open as well as extreme details of the running gear and tracks.
The turret is covered in the same manner with superb detail shots including interior details and special attention to the complex 12.7mm MG mounting with the photos are supplemented by a few line drawings and again show every part of the turret to great effect.
Below are a few sample pages that best illustrate the detailed images.
Conclusion:
A superb photo reference on the IS-3 and if you only want a single modelling
reference then this would easily be the one as the photos are simply superb
and will be most welcomed by modellers.
Highly recommended.
