Review by Peter Brown

This is the first in a new series from Tankograd on American vehicles, and is similar in format to Special 5003 on German tank transporters. It covers all the various tank transporters from the end of WW2 up to date, starting with those types used in late WW2 such as the Diamond T M19, M25 Dragon Wagon and M26 series non-armoured version, the first true post-war style M123, experimental HET70 intended for the ill-fated MBT70/Kampfpanzer-70 tank, the HET which was born from that project, the commercial-based C-HET and finally the current Heavy Equipment Transporter System.

Each type is covered along with the appropriate trailers, using brief text in German and English along with photos of the real vehicles and manual extracts. No scale plans are included however. The photos show various different loads being carried, two of the Diamond T actually show British vehicles carrying Landing Craft including an LCM3 which would make a good basis for one of the several kits now available.

It is not easy to say more than this, photos are well produced and the coverage is ideal for anyone wanting more on these vehicles. As several were used by armies other than the USA, it should have wide appeal.

Highly recommended, this series is available from several distributors. For more details contact the publishers Verlag Jochen Vollert on jochenvollert@tankograd.com
