AFV Kit Review
Leopold K5(E) Railway Gun by Bernhard Lustig (pages 6-10)
This review details the building of the Dragon Leopold with the inclusion of
some minor detailing.
Images of the model during construction and the nicely weathered painting are
supplemented some pics of the preserved Calais K5(E).
Diorama Feature
Bloody Omaha by John Murphy (pages 16-19)
On the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings John builds an impressive diorama
of a section of Omaha Beach Dog Green Sector from the shoreline to the sea
wall which offered the first cover from the murderous small arms fire. The
diorama
has
18 well
painted figures with some GIs seeking shelter behind the 'hedgehog' obstacles,
others making a run for it while others have already made the sea wall as
well as some that unfortunately didn't make it. The waves lapping the water's
edge
are
especially
well done and the attention to detail extends to some dead fish washed up on
the beach. The detail is also evident in the figures and beach sand to the
sea wall with realistic blown section for an overall visually striking diorama
that portrays well the hell of the day.
Aircraft Superdetailing Feature
Rebirth of White Seven by John Quint (pages 22-25)
This article portrays a well detailed and painted Hasegawa 1/72 Fw-190F-8.
From the details included and the well painted cam to the subtle weathering it's
hard to tell this is actually a 1/72 model without reading the text.
Superdetailing Feature
Master Modeller by Bil Attridge (pages 30-36)
The Tamiya 1/12 McLaren MP4/6 featured in this article won the builder
a Master Modeller award and while street cars are not my forte you have to
admire the
work gone
into
this
extensively detailed and well painted model. There are numerous photos of the
model during and after construction to fully illustrate the detailing as well
as a full list of the additions.
Book Reviews (pages 38-41)
The usual run down on new books for the modeller with brief reviews
and cover photos of the books featured.
New Releases
(pages 44-53)
This section features new Kits and Accessories with a brief description of the
item listed plus photos of the accessory kit contents and is one of the most
useful sections of the magazine keeping you informed on what's new. The items
listed cover the same themes as the magazine with Military and Civilian vehicles
plus Aircraft and figures as well as tools and decals.
Submarine Kit Review
Magnificent VII by Marcus Nicholls (pages 54-59)
Marcus builds the impressive Revell 1/72 U-Boat Type VIIc with numerous photos
showing the additional detailing of the 88mm deck gun, conning tower and around
the hull as well as overall photos showing the subtle weathering of the paint
finish. This is an impressive model and large enough to appeal to any modeller
wanting to try their hand at something different and if you want to find a home
for your U-Boat then check out the full Dry Dock released by Diorama
Solutions.
Postbag
Some reader letters and feedback.
Last Word
Gives a brief rundown on the next issues contents and any late breaking news.
The issue continues the excellent trend of this magazine and one thing not mentioned above is that intermingled with the reviews and articles are 21 pages of vendor adverts, these are well worth looking through for info on new releases and where to get them.
