This recent figure from Alpine Miniatures is a single SS Panzer Recon Officer in a semi-relaxed standing pose wearing the early SS camouflage smock with grey-green trousers designed for armoured vehicle crews and holding a pair of binoculars. The figure has the usual choice of two heads with excellent facial features and one wearing a Officer's cap and the other field cap and is armed with a Walther P38 holster and stick grenade in his belt.

The full body is cast as one piece with just the heads and arms as separate parts as well as the hands holding the binoculars also separate with excellent uniform details including all the pockets, lapels and fabric seams in the right places plus nice laces on the smock front.

There was virtually no cleanup needed apart from the usual small casting blocks to be removed but there was some minor casting seams between the lower legs which are easy to remove. Assembly is very straightforward with the fit of the arms being spot on requiring no trimming or filler while the heads also fit neatly into the collar.

As with previous figures I added a small “wire” pin to the neck to go into a hole drilled into the body but again this is a personal thing to make fitting and swapping the heads easy and not a reflection of the fit which is perfect if you just want to glue the chosen head in place. This also allows the heads to be painted separate and easily attached later.

Conclusion:
Another excellent figure from Alpine with the smock allowing any of the different camouflage schemes such as plane tree, palm tree, oak leaf or pea to be added giving good scope to the figure that can be used in conjunction figure set 35043.

Highly recommended
