US Para standing with M1 Carbine
Resicast 1:35 Figure Set #35.585
Review by Terry Ashley

Resicast have released some excellent British/Commonwealth infantry and tank crew figures and have now released their first US figures in the form of three US Para figures.

This figure represents a US Para during the Normandy campaign from the 82nd Airborne or 101st Airborne Divisions and consists of five parts in light grey resin for the figure and an additional twenty four resin parts for personal equipment and is armed with a folding stock M1 Carbine.

He wears the typical wind and rain resistant parachute coat with parachute trousers and boots plus parachutist's helmet with netting covering as well as wearing the gas detection arm brassard on the upper right arm which was chemically treated material that changed colour if poison gas was present and was worn early in the Normandy landings.

The figure has the full body and legs in one single casting with separate head and arms which makes for easy assembly but there are some minor casting seams on the inside of the legs and arms which are fairly easy to remove but care will be needed so as not to compromise the fine details.

Detail on the uniforms is superb with clean crisp and well defined pockets, belt and webbing with natural fabric folds that do look very realistic. Facial features are equally well defined with a deep undercut around the helmet/head join for a very natural appearance.

The right arm holds the M1 carbine for a natural hand fit with a separate folding stock which you can position extended or folded depending on your want with the size of the M1 being spot on. The personal equipment can be added to the figure as required but the back haversack has to be fitted as the webbing doesn't cover the whole back but other than that you can position the items as you wish.

Fit of the arms is spot on without any gaps or trimming needed and I added a small wire pin to the neck to make fitting easier but this is a personal thing with the head fit being very good as it comes.

Details on the personal equipment is also very crisp and well defined and included is a small sheet listing all the items called out by number so you know what each item is which is both informative and makes it easy to select the item to use.

The personal equipment is also available separately as set #35.584 to use on other figures if required.

No insignia decals are included but if you buy all three of the US Para figures currently available direct from the Resicast a small decal sheet with 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions insignia, rank insignia and US flags is included as a bonus.

Conclusion:
A simple yet superbly cast and detailed figure that will come up very well with careful painting and be most welcome by Allied figure modellers.

Highly recommended
