Tristar
German Self-Propelled Gun Crew Set Vol.2
1:35 kit No.35007
Review by Terry Ashley

Tristar
This is the second SP Gun Crew set from Tristar and is designed specifically for the Tamiya Marder IIIM or the Dragon Nashorn but could obviously be adapted for any other SPG.

TristarThe set has 43 parts in grey plastic for the six figures and another 25 for the assorted weapons and equipment, plus a bonus of two turned brass ammo rounds.

The standard of moulding is excellent as we have come to expect from Tristar and the details on the figures is among the very best in injection moulded figures.
The only cleanup needed to remove the fine moulding seam on each part, and then of course glue the parts together.
There are five full figures in various poses and a sixth half figure for the driver designed to be protruding for the driver’s hatch on either SPG.

Figure A is a standing gun commander who is looking through a pair of binoculars and is made up of a full body with separate head, arms and binoculars.

Figure B is the loader with separate upper body, head and two separate legs, there are three arms provided with different arms being used depending if you are crewing the Marder or Nashorn.

Figure C is the gunner designed specifically for the Marder IIIM and consists of upper body, head separate legs and arms.

Figure D is the driver figure and as mentioned is just the upper body with one arm moulded on while the other arm is separate and you the choice of two heads, one wearing a field cap and the other a forage cap.

Figure E is the gunner designed specifically for the Nashorn and again consists of upper body, head separate legs and arms.

Figure F is a standing crewman holding a round ready to loaded and has a full body moulding with separate arms and again a choice of two heads with either a field cap or forage cap. He is designed to hold either of the two turned brass rounds included with the kit, one 88mm for the Nashorn and the other a 75mm for the Marder IIIM.

The additional weapons sprue has three Kar98k rifles, three MP40 SMGs plus a selection of personal equipment such as steel helmets, gas mask containers and meal tins, enough to make your SPG looked lived in.

Another excellent set of figures from Tristar who continue to set the standard for injection moulded figures and will bring either of the target kits to life.
