SS Officer and Dispatch Rider
1/35th Figure Set No. WA35548
Review by Terry Ashley

This two figure set has an SS Officer wearing a camouflaged smock over his tunic directing a Dispatch rider wearing the specialised rubberised motor cyclist uniform with the leggings fastened at the calves while riding.

Each figure is made up of just four parts with the full body with separate arms and heads with the Officer wearing a steel helmet with camouflaged cover and the Rider with steel helmet and rider’s goggles; he is also armed with an MP40 and gas mask container.

There is the usual casting blocks to be removed and due to the legs being cast together there are some mould seam lines to be removed from the insides of the legs and you should take care not to compromise the detail when dealing with these.

The uniform details are well defined especially on the camouflaged smock and rider’s uniform as well as on the facial expressions and should look most convincing with careful painting.

The fit of the parts is excellent but care will be needed when removing the casting block from the Officer’s right arm as the block is on the end of the arm and if too much resin is removed it will affect the fit to the body.

The rider’s right hand has the MP40 magazine included and it could be an idea to insert a small pin from fine wire to the MP40 with corresponding hole in the magazine as this will allow for precise location as well as enabling the gun to be attached after painting.

In all another nice set with well defined details and can be used together or separately in any diorama setting.

The figure set is available in the US from VLS and in Australia from Firestorm Models.
