Set No.DEK053G
Review by Peter Brown

Accurate ArmourIdeal for anyone with Accurate Armour’s Challenger 2 Op Telic upgrade set or the new Trumpeter Challenger 2 OP Telic kit is this decal sheet for Challenger 2’s in the Gulf.

Included are nine vehicle registration numbers - one each as only the rear one is seen with the front reactive armour panels fitted - the red Desert Rat of 7th Armoured Brigade, unit markings for Royal Tank Regiment, Royal Scots Dragoon Guards including the Scottish flag, Queen’s Dragoon Guards and Queen’s Royal Lancers, geometric tactical signs for Squadron with separate numbers and letters in two different styles so you can create markings for specific vehicles, bands for the fume extractor markings plus several small decals for the vehicle, such as Union flags, the standard rear convoy stripes and first aid box marking, warning signs for the exhaust cowls and top of the commander’s sight as well as for the fire extinguishers.

Not included for some reason are the black chevron markings used in the campaign, this is an unusual omission but these are easy to paint on or adapt from existing markings.

The instructions show where these all go, using photos and a description of standard tank call signs. Finish is very glossy so will need a coat of mat varnish after they have been applied.

Using the decals will mean referring to photos if you want to be totally accurate, as each vehicle has a specific registration, call sign and unit markings. While there is a lot on the sheet, there is only enough for one complete vehicle when the warning signs are taken into account, though apart from these there are plenty for several vehicles of the same or different units as long as you want them for different squadrons

The sheet will be available from the usual AA stockists, or direct from the Accurate Armour web site.
