Vol.1 - Basic Set
ABER 1:35 Set #35 188
Review by Terry Ashley

TristarTristar
This update set from ABER is designed for the Tristar Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.B and C (kit #35017 and #35021) and consists of one large etched fret, a smaller fret with etched chains and a length of brass rod.

The standard of etching is excellent as we know from ABER with many very finely but cleanly etched parts with engraved and raised details plus the usual engraved bending lines.

Apart from the front and rear folding fender sections which are in multiple parts with working hinges all the other parts are for the smaller and finer details on the kit.

All the tool clips and brackets are provided in multipart assemblies many with working brackets hinges and separate wing nuts in the usual ABER style that does require a bit of careful assembly but adds an extra degree of detail.

The brackets for the jack, fire extinguisher and shovel are quite intricate with additional multipart assemblies for the track tool, crew step, wooden jack block rack plus detailed parts for the taillight and mounting bracket with the same treatment given to the front horn.

The rear smoke grenade rack is extensively detailed with etched parts and the brass rod supplied as well as the small etched chains provided and the large exhaust muffler has all the retaining brackets replaced with etched parts.

On the turret is a new aerial guard and attachment bracket for the barrel plus brackets to show the turret front vision ports open as well as additional details for the door vision ports.

Conclusion:
A very extensive update set with many fine parts that while requiring care to assembly will add many intricate details to the excellent Tristar Panzer IV Ausf.B/C kits.

Additional sets are available for the fenders (set#35186) and Turret Stowage bin (set #35A 105) or for the interior (set #35187) to add even more detail if you wish
