The quality of Archer Fine Transfers sheets is well known and these are no exception with clear clean printing with the appropriate yellow markings that are perfectly legible right down to the smallest size print if you have a magnifying glass handy?
The set is primarily designed for the Resicast 25Pdr shell boxes from sets 35.266, 35.288, 35.292, 35.293 and 35.296 but would be perfectly suitable for the recent 25Pdr shell box set from Bronco Models (set #AB3512).
To get a perfect result when applying dry transfers it is important to ensure the model surface is perfectly clean as any finger oils or dust can effect the way the transfers come off the backing sheet and adhere to the model surface. The major advantage of dry transfers over traditional water slide decals is you don't have to gloss the model first before applying the stencils to eliminate the silvering effect which saves on application time as well as you have less coats of clear varnish to 'yellow' over time.
Application is very simply by cutting each stencil from the backing sheet and position over the painted box holding in place with low-tack tape if need be and then lightly burnish with a suitable tool such as a soft pencil, an empty ball point pen or purpose burnishing tool from art shops.
I found the transfers came away from the backing sheet very easily and adhered well to the model surface with the backing paper laid over the marking once applied to burnish the transfer firmly in place.
If you want to apply the transfers in the conventional water slide manner you just need to apply the transfers to clear decal sheet and then apply as with normal water slide decals but this really defeats the advantages of dry transfer decals.
Well printed and easy to use, these sheets will appeal to all Allied modellers to add that final touch to available 25Pdr shell boxes and are an improvement over any stenciling from the various box sets.
Highly recommended 8/10
