Patches, Insignia & Ranks

Part3
1:35 Decal Sheet No. P353003
Review by Terry Ashley

This third sheet from Echelon again with a generous selection of current low visibility US Army uniform Patches, Divisional and Rank insignia suitable for Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom theater of operations is basically the same as sheet two but with different uniys featured.

The decals are the normal water slide type again printed by Microscale with the colour register spot on and thin carrier film cropped close to the printed image which will help during decal application.

The patches and insignia are provided in both light green and tan backgrounds depending on the uniform type as well as full colour US flags to use in place of the Green and tan if required. There are also MP armbands (or brassards) in both green and tan with and without the MP lettering as well as the fine inscriptions in arabic (suitable for OIF/OEF).

You also get a selection of personal name tags plus separate very fine individual letters with blank name patches to make any name if you wanted to create a figure of actual past or present serving personnel to add the personal touch or to pay tribute.

Insignia is included for the following units;

When applying unit and rank insignia to figures I use a different method than the usual water slide application method.
After cutting the decal as close as possible from the sheet I moisten the backing sheet only until the decal separates and then apply with a brush a small section of matt varnish where the decal will go. While still wet I then apply the dry decal and lightly press in place, this eliminates completely any silvering and sticks the decal in place but you do need to be precise in decal placement as there is not a lot of movement available but this is not a major problem with uniform insignia.

Conclusion:
As with the first two sheets this is another excellent set of patches and insignia that are well printed with a good variety of markings for most applications and should be welcomed by all Modern vehicle/figure modellers, you will probably find yourself getting two or three sets as they will always come in handy.

Highly recommended 8.5/10.
