37mm M6 barrel
M3 Stuart

AcademyAcademy
This is a single piece turned brass barrel designed for the Academy M3 kits (#1398, 1399).

The barrel has nice 'notch' details at the half way step and is hollowed out at the muzzle to a depth of 8mm but there should be a slight flair at the muzzle.

While meant for the Academy M3 kits the barrel can also be used with the AFV Club M3A3 or the Tamiya M3/M5 kits, M8 Greyhound and the Italeri LVT(A)-1.

Fitting to the Academy kit:
To fit the barrel requires some simple surgery to the Academy gun (part B41) by cutting off the barrel form the front of its mounting which is easily done with a fine razor saw, next drill a 2mm hole in the face of the central mount ensuring it is high enough off the lower gun mount to accept the new barrel.
With the hole drilled just fit the metal barrel and glue in place with cyanoacrylate.

Fitting the barrel to the AFV Club M3A3, Tamiya M8 and Italeri LVT(A)-1 is similar where you modify the gun mounting to accept the new barrel while with the Tamiya M3/M5 kits simple mods to the barrel part will see the job done.

Conclusion:
A simple update for any kit with the M6 37mm gun that is easy to fit and will add that bit of detail definition to the target kit.

Recommended.
