Engine set for FAUN-SLT-56
RMA 35080
for Trumpeter kit TR00203
Review by Terry Ashley

TrumpeterThis set is designed for the Trumpeter FAUN SLT-56 and provides the full engine block and associated plumbing to fill the engine compartment void in the kit.

Consisting of just 8 pieces cast in light cream resin the set consists of the large engine block with associated accessories and wiring included in the single casting which is well done with only some fine resin film to be removed as well as the large casting block at the front end. Added to this are the larger pipes for the exhaust and radiator systems which have nice details included and again only requiring the casting blocks and some minor excess resin to be removed, although some care will be needed when removing the casting resin from around the flange detail on the larger exhaust pipes.

The detail on the engine block casting is very well done with well defined wiring, cylinder bank side and exhaust manifold details as well as the tread plate pattern of the top of the engine and careful painting will bring out this detail well.
The new pipes fit into the ends of the two kit air cleaners and will require some minor adjustment to the kit parts to fit and the two larger pipes replace the kit parts C10 under the large exhaust and again apart from some minor adjustments there shouldn’t be any problems fitting the new parts. Additional smaller pipes are provided to connect up to the forward radiator but unless you plan on having the engine compartment open these probably won’t be seen.

The instruction sheet is very basic with just a photo of the resin parts, two basic diagrams showing alterations to the kit and an overhead photo of the engine fitted to the kit which unfortunately doesn’t really show where some of the pipes connect.
The box top photo does give additional clues and should help with the placement of the pipes and you should be able to work out where they go without much problem as they are quite large.

Overall a finely detailed engine assembly that will fill the engine compartment void in the kit very well and could also prompt you to leave to top off the engine compartment to show off this detail.

Recommended.
