These
sets from Trakz are designed for the Tamiya Kübelwagen kit
No.35213 and are fairly simple update sets to use.
Set TX 0102 is a one piece 3 rib Canvas Cover and is cleanly cast in light cream resin with a single large casting block along the the rear top to be removed.
The detail on the canvas cover is very good with inside detail of the support frames and subtle creases on the top with nice tie downs on the rear as well as the two windows which need opening up.
Some care will be needed when removing the large casting block as the resin
is very thin just forward of the rear frame so be sure to take it slowly
so as not to break through while cleaning up the excess resin.
The use of
a fine razor saw to remove the larger parts of the block would be advisable
to avoid damage.
By putting the casting point along the top bend means all the mating surfaces are perfectly cast and you don't compromise the fit as can often happen when you have to remove excess resin as well as retain the contours to fit the kit. As a result the fit of the top to the Tamiya kit body is very snug with only the rear section above the engine grills sitting about .5mm off the surface which isn't much while the sides fit perfectly flush with the kit side panels while the top of the windscreen frame fits precisely into the front of the canvas top.
A simple set to add a different feel to your Kübelwagen and while the set is designed for the Tamiya kit it could well be used on other kits but some modifications may be needed. Recommended.
Set TX 0103 is basically identical with set TX 0102 except that the cover only has two support ribs for a bit of variety of the types used, all other details are the same with the inside frame detail well defined.
Set TX 0104 is again designed for the Tamiya kit and consists of eight pieces in the same light cream cleanly cast resin with only the usual casting blocks to be removed.
The four doors simply replace the kit doors and while they retain the cast
on door handle have additional bolt head details on the door hinges and canvas
pouches added to the inside of the doors. The covered windscreen has nice fabric
details and again simply replaces the kit windscreen frame while the rear folded
canvas top fits to the kit side frames as a straight replacement for the kit
part to offer some variety.
Lastly there are two new covered head lights that have nice fabric details
and again simply replace the kit head lights.
No alterations are needed on the kit parts to fit the new resin parts that will add some nice additional detailing to the already nice kit parts. Recommended.
