The Kit:

This long awaited kit from Trumpeter has finally arrived and features one of the most widely used Soviet artillery piece of WWII taking part in every major offensive as well as just about every news reel of the period. The kit features the M1937 version of the gun with the spoked wheels plus there are parts on the sprues for later versions to follow.

The kit consists of 237 parts in beige plastic, 41 etched parts, a turned aluminium barrel tube and the 12 page instruction booklet and colour painting guide.

Standard of mounding is good overall with nicely done details virtually free of any pin marks or other blemished and just the odd bit of fine flash and the usual moulding seams to be removed before assembly. The etched parts are quite plain by todays standards but are adequate for their purposes in the kit.

The kit features the heavily riveted trails and other parts so typical of Soviet WWII equipment and gives a unique appearance to the model and time permitting a full review will follow.
