1/35 Set No. 1879

Review by Terry Ashley

This update set is aimed for the Tamiya M26 Pershing but apart from the ammo rounds could be used for any US vehicle of WWII.

The set consists of 66 cleanly cast resin pieces in the grey/green resin cast in the usual good quality resin with only the usual casting blocks to be removed.

The vast majority of the pieces consist of recycled personal gear and packs, ammo boxes, storage boxes, pioneer tools and Gerry cans from other update sets, that is not to criticise, just stating the obvious. Most of these parts have good details and come up well with painting to add life to your dioramas.

The only new bits are 11 items of 90mm ammo for the M26, five empty shell casings, two ammo canisters and four ammo rounds of different AP types. Unfortunately all four of these rounds had air bubble holes in the tips requiring some nifty filler work.

In all a simple set with many uses, just don’t leave it all over your M26 like the box top illustration as you’d loose most of it the first bump you went over or when firing the 90mm cannon.
