Introduction:

This third Modern cal.50 M2HB GPMG set from Voyager Models provides a full set for the Vehicle Mounted remote Control Firing Version as mounted on M1 Abrams MBTs.

The set consists of three resin pieces for the MG receiver, separate ammo feed chute cover and remote cylinder along with the two machined brass parts for the barrel and perforated cooling jacket plus 21 etched parts for the M2 and gun mounting.

The standard or resin casting is again excellent with just the usual casting blocks to be removed and the fine attachment burs after removing the etched parts from their frets.

Being the remote firing version there is no rear firing handles or sights for the MG , just the turned brass barrel featuring the same drilled out muzzle with the correct size bore hole and correct subtle taper of the barrel with the cooling jacket as another machined brass part with the cooling holes with the machined recesses either side of the jacket. The machining of the recesses is a little rough and you may want to smooth these out a little and also the recesses should be just that, recessed into the cooling jacket but are level with the jacket surface but this may not be that noticeable on the assembled gun.

The cooling holes are cleaning drilled without any excess brass to remove but the jacket appears oversized and the fit of the cooling jacket to the barrel is a little loose at the front and at the back there is nothing to ensure the barrel is central to the cooling jacket as you fit to the target gun and care is needed with this.

If you want to get really picky the front lip of the jacket is a little large and is slightly too far forward in relation to the barrel retaining ring part way down the barrel as mentioned but these are only very minor issues and along with the cooling jacket side recesses may not be really be noticeable but are things to take into consideration accuracy wise.

The etched parts provide the full gun cradle and side mounted ammo box cradle and small ammo box that all fits together very easily with quite basic bending required especially compared to the other two Modern MG sets. There are also numerous fine etched chains for the four mounting pins on the cradle and this adds a nice appearance to the assembled cradle.

the resin cylinder has etched mounting brackets which fits to the front of the cradle with the ammo box added to the side of the cradle and MG receiver.

Conclusion:

This is another nicely detailed M2HB remote firing MG which has very easy assembly as resin and etched sets go to add further detail to any Abrams or other applicable vehicle mounting.
